Gratitude is an essential part of healthy living. Sometimes we get so busy we forget to do the simple things that will help make us happier. Do you notice Gratitude sounds a lot like Attitude? It is a choice, and that’s why it’s important to remind yourself everyday to renew your commitment to grateful living.

Here are some tips that will guide you toward healthy living:

Keep Your Expectations Realistic

Focus on the strengths and virtues of what you are rather than the expectations of what you are not. Raise mental health IQ by learning from your past, accepting the present, and remaining hopeful for the future.

Create a Gratitude Journal

Create a journal where you can write down all the things you have to be grateful for that day. In a six week study, psychologists from the University of California at Riverside found that people who took the time weekly to consciously record any of the good things that happened in their lives, no matter how big or little, showed significant increases in overall satisfaction with their lives.

Let Go of Negative Thoughts

Negative thoughts will weigh you down. Consciously replace a negative thought with a positive  thought.  If you need to, look at your Gratitude Journal. Change your thinking to change your feelings. Try putting a new spin on your way of thinking.

Do Altruistic Acts of Kindness

I have never felt bad about myself when I do something nice for someone else.  Pass along good energy and give someone else something to be grateful for today!
