Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a proven approach to therapy that blends Western cognitive therapy and Eastern meditative approaches to help people achieve emotional stability, decrease stress, and live in acceptance and mindfulness.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is especially effective for clients to help with borderline personality disorder. Borderline personality treatment often addresses symptoms that include extreme moods, black and white thinking, and unstable relationships.

Mindfulness is one of the core concepts behind all elements of DBT therapy. It is considered a foundation for the other skills taught in DBT therapy, because it helps individuals accept and tolerate the powerful emotions they may feel when challenging their habits or exposing themselves to upsetting situations.

Research indicates that DBT therapy is also effective in treating patients who present varied symptoms and behaviors associated with spectrum mood disorders. Recent work suggests its effectiveness with sexual abuse survivors and chemical dependency.

Robin uses the DBT therapy model to provide borderline personality disorder treatments that help her clients accept their reality, live in the moment, and become calm in difficult circumstances.
